Your Guide : Steve Tedesco
Steve has been fly fishing for trout for over 40 years. Whilst guiding fisherman in many varied fisheries, trout fishing has been a constant throughout his career as a fishing guide and captain.
Steve has guided fishermen for over 30 years.... from giant Black Marlin to fishing for world record marlin on fly tackle. He has been involved in catching all three of the marlin species found in the Pacific on fly, including the largest Striped Marlin ever taken on fly tackle.
Although Steve's fishing career took him all over the Pacific basin, fly fishing for trout has always been his first love.
Known for his innovative approach to solving fishy problems, Steve puts his years of knowledge to good use on the rivers and trout of Southland. You can expect to see a unique approach to rigging tackle as well as some unique fly patterns.
Steve and his wife Jen moved to New Zealand in 2016 to take advantage of the world class fly fishing opportunities available. After Trout bumming around in a bus for a couple of years they settled in Lumsden, a small village in Southland. This central location gives access to the five main river systems of Southland as well as numerous streams, tributaries, springs and lakes.
Well skilled in managing anglers expectations and varying skill levels, Steve will not only put you on the fish but will also help refine your approach to maximise your chances of success.
As a member of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association, Steve has a fully audited health and safety plan, all required insurance and Department of Conservation concessions to operate on DOC managed land.
